Manson Youth Institute (MYI), Connecticut’s prison for children and young men up to the age of 21, has been on partial lockdown since November 19 due to COVID-19 concerns. Youth at MYI have been subject to de facto solitary confinement during this time, with no in-person educational services or individualized mental health counseling.
CCA attorney Marisa Halm spoke with the Connecticut Mirror about the dangers of long-term isolation for children and young adults, as well as the need for better education services for youth at MYI.
