Attorney Roswig was recognized for legal work resulting in positive resolution of a case that enforced the national standard for playgrounds, ensuring accessibility for children who have handicaps that might otherwise exclude them from participation.
“This was what many advocates called a landmark case brought and settled under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Attorney Roswig and the Center for Children’s Advocacy, on behalf of a parent, alleged that the North Canaan Elementary School failed to ensure that its playgrounds were accessible for children with disabilities. This was the first time the ADA’s architectural barrier provisions were applied to a playground,” said Assistant US Attorney Ndidi Moses.
The settlement requires North Canaan Elementary School’s playgrounds to be fully ADA compliant by August 31, 2019. read story
