Over the course of the pandemic, the Center for Children’s Advocacy has worked with utility companies and state regulators to increase access to affordable utilities payment plans in Connecticut.
As a result of advocates’ efforts, utility companies in Connecticut now offer reduced utility costs for households that can’t pay the full cost of their utility bill. However, these affordable payment plans are often not communicated to customers. As such, many Connecticut residents who are eligible for reduced payment plans do not receive them.
In order to spread the word about these programs, CCA has created a number of utilities assistance guides to help people access affordable payment plans. These guides are linked below:
- Help With Unpaid Heat & Light Bills (English)
- Ayuda con las facturas impagas de calefacción y luz (Spanish)
- How to Obtain A Flexible Payment Plan
- For medical professionals: How to help your patients keep their lights & heat on
