CCA Statement on Violence in Minnesota and Detention of Immigrant Children

The Center for Children’s Advocacy is a statewide non-profit legal rights organization dedicated to individual and systemic advocacy on behalf of low-income children and youth. The reports and images from the last days and weeks of federal authorities engaging violently with the Minnesota community, detaining young children, separating families, and intimidating communities shock the conscience. We denounce these actions against children and adults. We have seen first-hand children and youth illegally detained, and the long-term, traumatic effects of being separated from their families. We stand with all individuals, here and in Minnesota, who mourn the loss of life and stability in their communities. We will continue our work to safeguard the most vulnerable children in Connecticut, including immigrant children, and advocate for their right to safety in their homes and communities.
