The Center for Children’s Advocacy condemns, in no uncertain terms, the United States Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, overturning Roe v. Wade. For the first time in the history of American jurisprudence, the Court rescinded a Constitutional Right that it had previously granted (in the landmark case of Roe v. Wade) and affirmed in Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). The Dobbs decision not only undermines the fundamental right to privacy that guarantees reproductive freedom and the medically essential healthcare associated with that right, but an individual’s right to determine her own principled healthcare decisions that are made with medical professionals. We also recognize that the repeal of Roe injures and affects those who most marginalized in our society – low income patients and women of color. The broad consequences of limiting fundamental healthcare to those most at-risk will be felt for months and years to come.

CCA vows to continue its work to protect the most vulnerable youth and young adults in our society. And while we are proud to work and practice in Connecticut, a state at the forefront of protection for individual reproductive rights and freedoms, we will continue to fight for an individual’s right to abortion care, contraception in all forms, and to protect and preserve an individuals right to marry whom they love regardless of sexual orientation. CCA stands with its clients, medical partners and individuals all throughout the state. Now and in the future.
