Following the approval of the Sheff v. O’Neill settlement agreement in March, attention has turned to suburban school districts and their participation in the Open Choice program.
The settlement agreement contains new incentives for districts to accept more Open Choice students, in addition to the financial incentives that have existed since previous Sheff settlement agreements.
A recent Hartford Courant article breaks down the new incentives, as well as the barriers to getting suburban districts to participate in the Open Choice program.
