A new bill in Connecticut would lower the acceptable limit of blood lead levels for children before the state requires intervention. This bill, proposed by Gov. Lamont’s office, has the support of health advocates, who see the bill as a crucial step toward preventing lead poisoning in children.

CCA attorney Alice Rosenthal, who represents children and families through CCA’s Medical-Legal Partnership with Yale-New Haven Hospital, spoke to WNPR about how the proposed legislation would impact her client families.

“Many of these families I work with don’t have the ability to just simply move if their child has lead poisoning,” Rosenthal said. “They rely on their landlords to remediate the apartment so that they can keep their children safe.”
